The Object Project - Cornwall

Read Write South West has inspired some exciting new projects including a Poetree Café at Hall for Cornwall , where my edible poetry was featured on BBC TV news (Click here to see how you can eat your words http://youtu.be/u5PeNBiluno

I also engaged with the public during a series of Poetree on the Piazza days where people could pick an object off the tree and be serenaded with a song or poem it inspired.

I now am very excited to be working with the libraries on a theatrical version of the Object Project.

The Object Project invites members of the community to bring forward objects that are precious to them and that have a story to tell. These objects then become the inspiration for songs , stories , poems and animations that are showcased in a Cabinet of Curiosities ( with its own mini cinema screen and memory jukebox ) . Stage one saw me work with numerous schools and community groups ( supported also by FEAST ) and I am now working closely with the libraries on stage two which will see more groups engaged in the libraries themselves.
Whilst Poet in resident at HFC , I have also been developing Poetry Postie – who will deliver poetic inspiration to the nation ! This was piloted at the Bloomsbury festival in London this month in conjunction with the Postal heritage Museum and I am now developing the idea as both a walkabout show and stage act to tour in 2013. Poetry Postie also includes an education scheme called Poetry Telegram Team and I am excited to be in discussion with the libraries about how we could develop this idea into an exciting innovative writing project.
