Who are we?
Literature Works (formerly Cyprus Well) is the Literature Development Agency for the South West and an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation. We work to develop new literature networks in the region, support writer and reader development, and deliver our Grassroots Fund for literature activity throughout the South West. For more information please visit our website.
What's the project?
Read Write South West is Literature Works' writer-in-residence project, funded by Big Lottery.
Who will we help?
Libraries: The project involves the recruitment of experienced writers-in-residence in libraries across the region. These writers will work to deliver reader and writer development opportunities to hard to reach community groups, as well as aiding in the promotion of local libraries as important community venues.
Community Groups: The project will offer a variety of opportunities for different community groups to gain access to a professional writer, who will work with the group to develop work that they have an interest in.
Young People: The project will also fund Young Writer Squads, who will engage in a series of workshops with a professional writer, and have the opportunity to gain a Bronze Arts Award in the process.
Writers: The project will provide employment opportunities for writers across the region, as well as professional development for any interested writers, in the form of the Writers-in-Residence Network. This network will provide two major networking events, which will offer advice and support for writers who are interested in working in communities. The details of these events will be announced on this site.
